Mission

At the Islamic Society of Toronto, we are committed to serving the spiritual, educational, and social needs of the thousands of Muslim families in our community. Guided by Islamic values, our team curates and delivers a wide range of programs and classes that nurture faith, strengthen identity, and actively support every stage of community life.

Our History

Muslim families began settling in East York, Thorncliffe Park, and Flemingdon Park in growing numbers from the early 1970s. For years the community relied on rented facilities for salah, Taraweeh, and after-school programs. In 1995 the community purchased property at 4 Thorncliffe Park Drive as an Islamic Centre — establishing a lasting home for worship and education. The motivations were clear: preserve Islam for the next generations, strengthen dawah, and stand firmly against misunderstanding of Islam. Today Islamic Society of Toronto — Masjid Darus Salaam — serves the community from 20 Overlea Blvd, Toronto, ON M4H 1A4, continuing that mission with prayer, full-time and evening programs, youth initiatives, and charitable work across a neighbourhood of over 40,000 Muslims.

Current address: 20 Overlea Blvd, Toronto, Ontario M4H 1A4. The 1995 purchase at 4 Thorncliffe Park Drive is part of our founding history.

Goals & Objectives

• Assist Muslims in living an Islamic way of life locally • Establish and operate a place of worship and Madrasah • Provide marriage guidance according to Islamic principles • Propagate Islam through education, publications, and a library • Support religious and charitable activities • Foster harmonious inter-community relations and collaborate with similar organizations
